What a beautiful day!

Alright, unless you live in Florida or have ever lived in Florida I'm not sure if you can really appreciate this post today. Today is October 2nd and it is 65 degrees in central Florida. Two days ago it was 95 with 100% humidity! If only this fall weather would stay, but I'm afraid it will just be a short tease. The problem is this- I really want to do something fun to enjoy the weather, like go to the corn maze or hike the trails at the springs, but it's Sunday and I have an enormous amount of laundry to wash, lesson plans to write and a homework assignment for my Reading Endorsement class that is due tomorrow night. What to do, what to do???? I'm probably going to spend the day outside, oh, I forgot to mention that my mother-in-law is coming over today :( and stay up late getting all the other stuff done.
The good news, OOOPS, I mean GREAT news is that ALABAMA creamed the Florida gators last night!!!!!! I might be from Florida, but I bleed Crimson and White. ROLL TIDE!
Last week I did a fun power point for my math lesson on greater than and less than. Usually that is a pretty boring lesson, but I took the previous weeks college football scores and used them to teach the lesson. The kids LOVED it. We concluded with whose score would be greater yesterday Alabama's or Florida's. I will happily report tomorrow that 38>10 and that 10<38! I wish I could figure out how to attach the power point so that others could use it. I'm just not that tech savvy yet, but I'm working on it. Click here to see my store at teacherspayteachers.

Hi!

First day of my first blog. I have enjoyed reading so many other teacher's blogs that I thought I might start my own. This is my third year teaching and I'm lovin' it! Spending time with the kids, being creative with my lessons and watching those light bulbs come on is the best part of the job! Grading papers, writing lesson plans, RtI and Observations-Not So Much. I teach second graders in the beautiful state of Florida. I LOVE GOING TO THE BEACH and I would live there if I could. Sad to say, it's not a possibility unless I win the lottery and Wile E. Coyote has a better chance of getting that road runner then I have of winning the lottery.
I like coming up with fun creative activities for my students (if it's fun to teach, then the students will have more fun learning it).  I will post some of my activities in the coming weeks.
Thanks for stopping by and please come back.
